Gizmo The Crazy!

Gizmo is an 8 month old Beabull (Beagle/Bulldog) who came into our lives about 6 months ago when we were out buying creamer at Vons. We were just on a market run when there was a Petland right next door that we had visited a month prior, just to see what the deal was. We have always adopted our dogs and I never believed in buying a dog, but I figure ever dog needs a home, regardless of how they come to be. So we went into Petland that day and saw this same we had seen the prior month, marked down from $1500 dollars to $200 dollars and I asked them why he was on sale. They told me that he was way to high tempered and that a lot of families want a more calm dog. I could see how hyper he was because he was running in circles in his cage and I felt so bad for him. I don't know where they come from but the lady said he would be shipped back because he had been there too long and I was heart broken. I turned to my fiancĂ© and said  let's take him home. So we played with him for a minute and he was pure evil, biting us every chance he got and going insane and I could not leave him there. He was clearly going crazy being in a cage all day. So we signed the paperwork and took him home and he's been terrorizing us ever since. I understood why no one wanted him but I couldn't stand the fact of him being put to sleep or going to the wrong family because at $200, anyone could afford him at this point. Gizmo now enjoys his days at doggy daycare while we work and he's so tuckered out by the time he comes that he doesn't have the energy to torment us. But we love him just the same and he is an amazingly smart dog who can open doors and figure pretty much anything out.

  1. My little brother has two dogs, he can barely take care of them. Is so silly to watch him struggle with his dogs, specially with food. I help him sometimes.

  2. Gizmo is adorable...I wonder if he is so hyper because of spending so much time in a cage in his earlier months of life. I can't go into a pet store in malls because every animal lives in such a small space behind a piece of glass. Most of these dogs come from puppy mills anyway. I think pet stores or boutiques shouldn't be able to sell animals. He is so lucky to live with you, and especially having the privilege of going to a doggy day care!!!

    1. We love Gizmo, even though he is a handful! But I feel like every dog that comes in our lives in meant to be a part of our family for a reason! If I could rescue every dog in the world, I would. I am with you on the boutiques, I never thought I would buy dogs, but I figure they all have to go somewhere, whether they are adopted or bought! I would never buy a dog because of breed though, which is what a lot of people do. Gizmo is a beagle/bulldog and supposedly one of those designer dogs, but it's just a mixed breed to me.

    2. I agree with you that I would rescue every dog. It's so alarming to read about people mistreating their dogs; they have feelings and emotions. I just don't get it. We have a lot in common, and it's nice to hear from someone who loves their dogs as much as we do!!

    3. Audrey - It makes me sick the horrible things I see! Dogs mean more to me than most people, they are so innocent and so loving and I just fall in love with every dog. I love that they all have unique personalities that make them who they are. We do have a lot in common! I love meeting new people who feel the same way I do about dogs. I feel like people like us can change the world one dog at a time :)
